The Center for International Faculty and Student Services coordinates services for approximately 3,000 international students, scholars, faculty, and their dependents and offers programs with an international focus for all members of the university community. Programs and services include:
- a comprehensive orientation prior to the fall semester designed to facilitate new students' adjustment to the United States and to Rutgers;
- a community-based International Friendship Program which gives students, university, and community residents the opportunity to get to know each other;
- English language conversation groups;
- an international women's group which provides support to visiting international families via weekly meetings and programs;
- coordination of cross-cultural programs with student organizations, including the International Students Association and the International Student Affairs Committee of the Graduate Student Association;
- weekly workshops and seminars on employment benefits for nonimmigrant students and employees; monthly workshops on procedures for bringing dependents to the U.S.; and a workshop advising on international travel procedures for nonimmigrant students and scholars (2-3 times per semester);
- individual counseling on immigration, cross-cultural, financial, health, and other personal matters;
- information and advising on international student and scholar health insurance requirements and options;
- publication of handbooks and handouts for students and scholars;
- email "Notices to International Students" that provide timely information about immigration-related procedures and deadlines;
